Located at the
entrance of Dubai Creek is
the
former
residence of Shaikh
Saeed Al
Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai from 1912-1958 and
grandfather of the
present
Ruler,
Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The building
is
a
typical example
of the late 19th century Arabian
architecture.
Built in
1896, the
Shaikh
Saeed House
was once the seat of
Dubai's local
government.
Today the
buiding hosts a museum with
rare
collection of
historic
photographs, coins,
stamps and
documents
of Dubai's
history.
